About the data

This analysis uses completed Remoov pickups: households that booked and had items removed. Each pickup is placed in one of eight San Francisco areas and counted by the month it happened. Pickups track people clearing out homes: moving away, moving in, downsizing or redecorating.

Remoov’s own growth, marketing and pricing affect how many pickups it does, so every chart here shows shares and percentages rather than totals. Small areas can swing from year to year, and their percent changes run larger.
